Lammas Day!
It is the Festival Sabbat of Lammas today.
I just can't believe we are moving into August already!
So much change and shifting patterns.
As we are in high summer (and what a lovely day it is) the union of Sun and Earth, of God and Goddess, has produced the First Harvest.
Lammas is the celebration of this grain harvest, a time for gathering in and giving thanks for abundance.

I would love to say I have a Lammas painting to share with you today - definitely for next year! My previous Walpurgisnacht painting is in similar vein. However I am also keen to create a Goddess Mother and John Barleycorn (the Sun God) painting, so watch this space!
Mabon in September is the Autumn Equinox, which is the Second Harvest of Fruit, and Samhain is the third and Final Harvest of Nuts and Berries.
The word 'Lammas' is derived from 'loaf mass' and is indicative of how central and honoured is the first grain and the first loaf of the harvesting cycle.
In tradition you should make bread, a wicker man and put all of your bad habits inside him then throw him in the bonfire. You can also make corn dollies!
Wishing you a joyous end of July day! :)
