Sanctuary First - my first podcast!
I was delighted to be asked by Laura Digan of Sanctuary First to be interviewed for their latest ‘Christian Creatives’ podcast.
Laura has been meeting with different creatives to discuss their work, their processes and how their Christian faith influences their work. She discusses sources of inspiration, practicalities and managing confidence with creatives from different disciplines.
I must admit I was a little daunted with the whole live recording situation! However it was a lovely experience and Laura was so lovely and welcoming I really enjoyed being part of it.
I found that it really helped me to put into perspective the work I do, my processes, why I find happiness in what I create and my plans for the future.

The Task
As part of the podcast I was asked to think of a ‘task’ for listeners to get involved with. I absolutely loved Grayson Perry’s 'Art Club' on Channel 4 which discussed the lockdown in a creative way and, being inspired by it, I thought it would be nice to ask listeners to send in a picture of what ‘home’ has meant to them in lockdown. It can be in any medium and as simple as you like. Inspiration examples could include the view from your window, 'clap for carers', watching tv, your pet, family members, food, drink... anything that has defined 'home' for you.

I was actually in the middle of creating a large scale oil painting of the Pentlands which I can see from my home whilst this was recorded. This is my take on what 'home' has meant to me. I really enjoyed layering up the dramatic skyline which changes every day and is a constant source of inspiration for me. I often feel it reflects my mood!
